The Bethany Ashram and the Bethany Congregation have played a pioneering role in the apostolic ministry of Gospel preaching and spiritual retreats within the Malankara Catholic Church. Inspired by the missionary vision of Servant of God Archbishop Geevarghese Mar Ivanios and the spirituality of Bethany, the Congregation has dedicated itself to proclaiming the Gospel and fostering spiritual renewal among the faithful.
Through parish missions, retreats, conventions, Bible-centered preaching, and evangelization programs, Bethany priests and religious have reached thousands of people across India and abroad. Their preaching ministry emphasizes personal conversion, deeper commitment to Christ, participation in the sacramental life of the Church, family spirituality, and Christian witness in society.
The Congregation has also been instrumental in establishing and promoting retreat centers, organizing annual retreats for clergy, religious, youth, and families, and conducting mission outreach programs in various dioceses. Through these initiatives, countless faithful have experienced spiritual renewal, reconciliation, and a renewed zeal for Christian life.
Bethany’s apostolic commitment extends beyond preaching to the formation of evangelizers. Priests, religious, and lay leaders are encouraged and trained to become effective witnesses of the Gospel. This ministry has significantly contributed to the growth of faith, missionary consciousness, and ecclesial renewal within the Church.
Today, Gospel preaching and retreat ministry remain one of the most vibrant apostolic activities of the Bethany Congregation, continuing its mission of bringing people closer to Christ and nurturing a living, active faith in the Church and society.
